My name is Heather Seibel and this will be my eleventh year teaching art at
Riverdale Heights Elementary. I have been married for 16 years to my jokester of a husband, Nik. We have two children, Audrey and Payton, a cat named Bella, a Green Cheek Conure named Grumbles, a mini-macaw named Levi and two Guinea pigs named Caramel and Teddy! Can you tell I love animals?! We live in the country outside of the Quad Cities. I started my journey in art in first grade when I begged my mom (also an artist and my elementary art teacher!) to teach me how to draw a "real" horse. From that moment on I realized how much I loved to make art and eventually decided I wanted to share that love with others. I attended Iowa State University and the University of Iowa to study architecture and art - my two passions! I finished my Master's in Art Education in 2016. My main art interests include ceramics, pastels and cake decorating (an edible and delicious art form!). I took as many ceramic classes as I could during my graduate program and even got to create my own clay and glaze recipes! I try to spend time each week in my studio working on new pieces and I often take my sketchbook with me when I'm out and about to record new ideas or draw inspirations for later use. I also enjoy traveling, backpacking, rock climbing, obstacle course races, and playing volleyball. One of my pastel works.
